Danny and friends after
a few pints of Guinness
|
My first 3 years were a struggle. I was
trying to balance my hobby and family life
and I even gave up my piping hobby twice out
of frustration. However, I kept finding myself
returning to that same old practice chanter
and forcing myself to learn to read music.
And any of you that have been in music
or have played an instrument, you know
how frustrating learning the value of a note
can be. Eventually, a light would click and
this learning process was slowly starting
to sink in.

| As the years passed, I realized how sticking
with it has paid off for me. Over the years,
I have played some happy gigs and some not
so happy gigs but I have truly enjoyed my
piping along the way. I have even competed
in solo competition and did well taking a
1st and 2nd place medal in Grade 4. Even doing
well, I realized that piping in competition
was not my niche and that I would rather use
the bagpipe to perform. This setting is where
I most enjoy it.
